This is an opportunity for a technically strong tax professional to take responsibility for tax matters across a varied portfolio of businesses, working closely with senior stakeholders and external professional advisers.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience within the hotel or wider hospitality sector, alongside a strong understanding of UK corporation tax and the tax requirements of a multi-entity organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Corporation Tax: Manage corporation tax compliance across the group, including the preparation and review of computations, returns and supporting documentation.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure all relevant tax returns, payments and statutory submissions are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
- Tax Planning: Identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
- External Advisers: Liaise with external tax advisers, accountants and other professional specialists on tax compliance, technical queries and planning matters.
- Group and Entity Tax Matters: Oversee tax requirements across multiple companies and legal entities, maintaining accurate records and ensuring consistency of approach.
- Audit and Statutory Requirements: Support the tax-related aspects of annual audits and statutory reporting, providing relevant information and responding to queries.
- Tax Risk and Governance: Maintain appropriate tax records, documentation and controls, identifying potential risks and ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
- Legislative Developments: Monitor relevant changes in tax legislation and assess their implications for the business and its portfolio.
Candidate Requirements
- Ideally a qualified accountant or tax professional, with a recognised qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of UK corporation tax and experience managing tax compliance. Experience working across multiple companies or legal entities.
- The ability to manage deadlines, maintain accurate records and handle technical tax matters independently.
- Experience liaising with external advisers and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Good communication skills and the ability to explain tax matters clearly to non-specialists.
- Experience within the hotel or wider hospitality sector would be highly desirable, although candidates from other relevant multi-entity or owner-managed environments will also be considered.
The Person
The successful candidate will be technically capable, organised and comfortable taking ownership of tax matters within a relatively lean, hands-on environment. They will combine sound technical knowledge with a practical approach, providing reliable tax oversight and helping ensure the business meets its compliance obligations while identifying appropriate opportunities for tax efficiency.
This role would suit a qualified tax or finance professional looking to take ownership of tax across a diverse portfolio, with the opportunity to work closely with the senior team of a privately owned business.
