About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Director of Finance to join the leadership team of an exceptional luxury hotel in San Diego, California.
This is a rare opportunity to take a senior finance leadership position within a beautifully established property set across 11 acres of lush grounds, offering an enviable combination of luxury hospitality, exceptional dining, wellness, events and outdoor experiences.
The Opportunity
As Director of Finance, you will be a key member of the hotel's leadership team and a trusted business partner to the General Manager.
You will take overall responsibility for the financial operation of the property, providing strategic financial insight while ensuring strong controls, accurate reporting and effective financial planning.
This is an opportunity for a finance leader who enjoys being close to the operation and who can combine commercial thinking, financial discipline and strong leadership.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the hotel's finance and accounting function.
- Acting as a strategic financial partner to the General Manager and senior leadership team.
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
- Monitoring revenue, profitability, costs and overall business performance.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Maintaining robust financial controls and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Supporting payroll and other key financial processes.
- Working closely with department heads to improve financial understanding and accountability.
- Providing commercial insight to support business and operational decision-making.
- Leading, developing and mentoring the finance team.
- Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all financial information.
About You
You will be an accomplished hotel finance professional with a strong understanding of luxury hospitality and the ability to operate effectively at both a strategic and operational level.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Director of Finance, Financial Controller or equivalent senior finance leader within a hotel, resort or luxury hospitality environment.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.
- Extensive experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- A commercially minded approach and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business decisions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership and people-development skills.
- The confidence and communication skills to work closely with senior operational leaders.
- High attention to detail combined with a hands-on and pragmatic approach.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
